I love it when players win lottery prizes on or near their birthdays. Isn’t that always a great story?
Meet Scott and Nancy Jeppesen of Blue Earth, Minnesota.
On Oct. 28, they stopped at a convenience store to fill up their car with gas. On a whim, Scott decided to purchase three Northstar Cash tickets for his wife.
I asked the guy to give me a winning ticket, Scott recalled saying to the clerk.
The following morning, Scott called the Lottery’s winning numbers hotline and discovered that the first line of the three line quick-pick ticket matched all five winning numbers (4-17-19-25-31) to hit the $73,405 jackpot!
I was in shock, said Nancy when Scott informed her of the good news. I had to call the again to recheck the winning numbers.
After the two agreed that the ticket was in fact a winner, they traveled to the Lottery’s headquarters in Roseville that day to claim the prize.
This is perfect timing, Nancy said as she claimed the prize. With her birthday less than one month away, she can finally get her birthday wish ” a new door for the back of the house!
Happy birthday, Nancy and Scott.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Lottery is putting out an alert: A Northstar Cash jackpot worth $64,169 from the drawing on Sept. 20, 2008 (ticket sold in Hennepin County) and a $28,000 Northstar Cash jackpot from the drawing on July 16, 2008 (ticket sold in Stearns County) have not yet been claimed.
Northstar Cash players have one year from the date of the drawing to claim their prize.
So if you were in one of those towns and bought a ticket…check those pockets.
By the Numbers:
There was no Mega Millions winner on Tuesday night. The numbers were 10,21,23,41,55 and Mega number 9. Three tickets hit the first five numbers and each won $250,000. Those tickets were bought in Illinois, Ohio and Washington state.
Friday night’s jackpot rises to $42 million.
Tonight’s Powerball jackpot is $20 million.
Good luck everyone!
