Buffalo native Lareecea Love used to play the Lottery with the dream of hitting it big. Now that it’s happened, the 22-year-old bar manager turned Lottery Millionaire finds herself re-thinking her dreams on a much bigger scale.
A new house, a new business, a new start; that’s what winning $1,000,000 means to me, Love said. It’s all my dreams come true at once.
Love is the first New York Lottery player to win the $1,000,000 top prize on the Triple Diamonds instant game, which went on sale statewide in February.
The mother of one said she used half of the $10 cash prize she won on another instant game to purchase her lucky Triple Diamonds scratch off ticket.
I like the new games so I tried the Green and Gold (instant) ticket first and won $10, she said. I turned right around and picked another new one. I scratched it in the store and knew I won big.
Love purchased her $1,000,000 Triple Diamonds instant game at Pikes Peak Market on Fillmore Avenue in Buffalo.
As is the case with most New York Lottery instant game prizes, the top prize on the Triple Diamonds ticket is paid as a 20-year annuity.
Love will receive her prize in annual payments of $50,000 a year before required tax withholdings. Her annual net check will total $34,075.
Love already has big plans in the works for her winnings. I have always dreamed of owning my own house, she said. This win will certainly help make that dream a reality.
She also hopes to open her own bar and restaurant.
