This is so cool.
Last week, when the $380 million Mega Millions jackpot was won by a ticketholder in Washington and Idaho (yet to come forward), a lot of people also hit five of six numbers, only missing the Mega Ball, which was 16.
Among them was a pool of players working at Ground Zero in New York. They won $250,000, which after taxes came to $9,170 each.
There were 18 people in the pool.
“It is not life changing,” Mike Parrone, of East Islip, NY, told the New York Daily News, “but every little bit helps.”
The win was on Christmas eve.
Most of the winners said they’d put the money in the bank or pay bills.
