Virginia Woman Wins “Spectacular” $1 Million Top Prize

Alice Turner of Gore, Virginia, wasn’t wearing her glasses when she scratched a $70 Million Payout Spectacular ticket from the Virginia Lottery.

That’s why she didn’t immediately realize she had won the top prize of $1 million with the ticket.

When she finally realized the ticket was worth one million dollars, her reaction might come as a surprise to some people. It didn’t excite me very much, she told Lottery officials as she claimed her prize.

The $1 million prize is an annuity paid out over 25 years; she chose to take the cash option of $642,000 before taxes. She is not the only winner. The store receives a $10,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling the winning ticket.

When asked what she will do with her winnings, Turner had no immediate plans. I don’t think there’s one thing I want that I don’t have, she said.

Nice.  Cool.
