Ashford resident, Marilyn Rossi, who drives a concrete mixer for a local trucking company, recently had a super day.
After calling her boss to request time off from work, Rossi and her family made their way to CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill where she claimed the $1,000,000 top prize in the lottery’s New Year’s day Super Draw drawing, which was held on Jan. 1.
Having purchased one of the game’s 275,000 tickets sold, Rossi scanned her ticket in a lottery ticket checker and discovered that the number on her Super Draw ticket – 239602 – matched those drawn by the CT Lottery in its New Year’s $1,000,000 Super Draw event.
A lottery store clerk later confirmed her good fortune. When she told me I won a $1,000,000, I couldn’t believe it, Rossi told Lottery officials. I told her she must have made a mistake! Rossi said with a laugh.
Rossi, who received a check for $683,000 (prize value after taxes), was elated with her monumental win. Her plans include buying a much needed new vehicle, and to put money away for her future retirement and her daughter’s college education. All I have to say is “Thank you, CT Lottery,’ Rossi said.
