Germaine Cole of East Hartford was overcome with emotion upon learning she was a $25,000 winner in the instant game Royal Riches, that she lost all control of her senses.

I’m used to winning $200, maybe $400, but when I scratched the ticket and saw how much I won, I literally dropped straight to the floor, Cole said chuckling.

When Cole arrived with her husband, Kenneth, at Lottery headquarters to claim her prize check for $17,076 (value after taxes); she was still giddy with excitement.

My husband is the one who bought me the ticket, said Cole, who has been employed as a home health aide for the last 32 years.

This is a great retirement present! I’m retiring this May; this money is going right into the bank! Cole said.
