It took Jason Egnotovich almost six weeks to claim the $250,000 prize he won in Mega Millions.

He had good reason for the delay.

He was at sea.

He is a petty officer first class in the U. S. Coast Guard.

Egnotovich, who lives in Portsmouth,Virginia, matched the first five numbers in an October Mega Millions drawing to win the game’s second prize.

He bought the winning ticket in Portsmouth.

I’m still in shock, he told Lottery officials as he claimed his prize. It hasn’t hit me yet.

His ticket was one of just four nationwide to match the first five numbers in that drawing, and the only one in Virginia.

He said he has no immediate plans for his winnings.
