Pennsylvanians win $250,000 — in Virginia!

Sandy Hartman and her husband drive through Virginia three or four times a year to visit their son in Georgia.

They often stop for gas in Lexington, they said.

When they made that stop on their most recent trip, she decided to play Mega Millions.

That turned out to be a $250,000 decision.

Hartman’s ticket matched the first five numbers in the August 20 drawing.

The only number her ticket did not match was the Mega Ball number. She used Easy Pick and allowed the computer to randomly select the numbers on her ticket.

The winning numbers for that drawing were 13-28-35-38-41, Mega Ball 33.

If she had matched that Mega Ball number, she would have won the estimated $51 million jackpot.

But not a bad second prize…for a $1 bet.
