Florida Teachers Share $1 Million Powerball Prize

Vicky Blinn, 44, of Sanford, Florida, claimed a $1 million POWERBALL® prize from the drawing held on Wednesday, January 8, 2014.

The winning ticket matched all five of the white ball numbers, which were 10-28-39-47-58, and did not match the Powerball, which was 22.

Blinn is part of a lottery pool made up of teachers in Seminole County that have been buying Quick Pick POWERBALL tickets every Wednesday and Saturday for five years. Following the┬á drawing, Blinn checked the numbers on the Lottery’s website and then watched the video of the drawing over and over again to be sure the ticket was a winner.

“We were thrilled to hear that Florida’s latest $1 million POWERBALL prize was being shared by a group of teachers,” said Florida Lottery Secretary Cynthia O’Connell.

When members of the lottery pool were asked how they planned to spend their winnings, the responses ranged from paying bills, taking family vacations and purchasing a new car, to applying it towards their children’s college expenses and putting it away in savings.
